Dealing with the snow at London International Airport CYXU (Ontario, Canada)
With record snowfalls in the London, Ontario area in December 2010, London International Airport Staff had all hands on deck to keep up with Mother Nature. A record 122.2 cm fell on the airport over a 10-day span.
“Airport staff had their hands full and did a tremendous job given the circumstances,” suggests Brian Hooper, Team Eagle Territory Sales Manager. “Their dedication to keeping the airport open and operating safely is simply remarkable”.
The airport relies on a wide variety of equipment during the winter months to keep things moving. London recently acquired a dedicated Oshkosh Snow blower to round out their fleet’s capability and it was delivered and put in service by Team Eagle just in time.
London International Airport President and CEO Steve Baker says “LIA has introduced several pieces of new equipment to ensure that operations will continue under all circumstances. The reliability, engineering and capabilities of the Oshkosh Blower were tested and surpassed all expectations. The speed and efficiency of the new snow blower was recognized by airport users and did the work of two previous snow blowers. ”
