Description

The Software QA Analyst is responsible for creating QA test plans for software modules and systems, developed by our internal development team and external contractors. Validation of software product features and performance according to product requirements. This is a small software development team environment and the Software QA Analyst must adhere to common standards, using bug tracker and repo utilities. Must be adaptable to changing priorities and work independently.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform Quality Assurance testing on in-house software offerings.
    1. Experience with logging tools like Slack and Redmine an asset.
    2. Test software, hardware, and websites to required standards on required hardware.
  2. Comprehensive knowledge of Windows Operating systems including Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 10 (Pro, Home, and LTSB), Windows Server 2012 and up.
    1. MCP in a Windows OS a nice-to-have.
    2. Ability to prepare Windows builds for imaging and deployment using Sysprep and other tools.
    3. Ensuring stability of Operating Systems on hardware being sent out into the field.
    4. Setting up Remote Desktop capability using various tools (TeamViewer, VNC, RDP etc).
  3. Knowledge in setting up and maintaining Virtual Machines in a Cloud environment (Azure).
    1. Knowledge of the Azure portal, how to set up new services, retire old services, perform load balancing and testing.
    2. Creation of new VMs as required.
    3. Working closely with internal IT to ensure needs are met in a fiscally responsible manner.
  4. Skill with Microsoft IIS
    1. Setting up new websites, establishing HTTPS functionality, ordering, creating and managing SSL certificates.
    2. Working closely with web designers.
  5. Prototype Testing of new Hardware
    1. Team Eagle builds new hardware designs for clients.
    2. Required to work closely with the Hardware team to assist with new hardware offerings.
    3. Assist with sourcing and suitability testing of new equipment to ensure required standards are met.
    4. Test-benching hardware as required with multiple software builds/OS offerings.
  6. Network knowledge
    1. Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networks is a requirement.
    2. Ability to set up and configure firewalls on a hardware and software level is imperative.
    3. Ability to troubleshoot setups over the phone and with no remote access a must.
  7. Software Development (role evolution, after QA success)
    1. Responsible for developing and integrating software modules according to product requirements.
    2. Creating Windows/Websites user software for data entry, SQL storage, report creation (HTML) and production
    3. Developing distributed systems consisting of Windows services, IIS applications, Windows software, SQL Server with TCP/IP and UDP communications.

 

Experience Requirements:

  • College or university graduate in minimum 3 year related program
  • 3-5 years of experience in Software Testing and Quality Assurance role
  • Superior skills in problem solving, planning, organizing and implementing testing efforts
  • Proficient knowledge of structured methodologies for the development, design, implementation and maintenance of applications
  • Experience in automated tools and version control systems on one or more platforms
  • Goal oriented to achieve project deadlines through self-motivation, persistence and determination
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and deliver with minimal supervision
  • A lifelong learner and willing to ramp-up product knowledge for new software offerings
